Technical guide 10

Carbon-Ceramic Rotor Engineering and Size Selection

OWNSILENT generally supplies front rotors from 380–440 mm and rear rotors from 350–410 mm, but range information is not fitment approval. This guide explains the measurements and written specification needed for the exact vehicle.

01

Front and rear rotor specification

Diameter, thickness, friction-face geometry and axle position must be confirmed together. Front and rear systems can differ substantially on the same vehicle.

02

Hat, hub and offset relationship

Centre bore, bolt pattern, hat depth, offset and mounting hardware position the rotor inside the wheel and caliper envelope.

03

Confirmed C/SiC reference values

OWNSILENT’s confirmed category references include C/SiC construction, approximate density of 2.0 g/cm³, friction coefficient around 0.45 μ and strength range around 140–165 MPa.

Frequently asked questions

Is compatibility confirmed by model name alone?+

No. Exact diameter, thickness, offset, hub geometry, caliper clearance, wheel clearance and rear EPB compatibility require verification.

Can components be supplied separately?+

Yes. Rotors, matched pads and approved calipers can be quoted separately when the existing brake configuration is confirmed.

Is professional installation required?+

Yes. A qualified brake technician should complete installation, fluid work, torque procedures, bedding and final inspection.
