Conor McGregor definitely stands as one of the most prominent figures in the history of MMA. His star power is unparalleled, consistently shattering pay-per-view records whenever he graces the headline of an event. He is a genuine tough guy, which is why it comes as no surprise he was featured in a fan-made trailer for Popeye The Sailor Man, replacing the legendary Robin Williams.

In a move that caught many by surprise, Conor McGregor ventured into the realm of acting, following the path paved by fellow UFC champions Dwayne Johnson and John Cena, who have both found success in Hollywood. McGregor’s foray into acting saw him taking on a prominent role in the remake of the beloved film Road House.

It also included Conor McGregor’s voice-over, as he spoke a lot of Popeye’s signature dialogues, most notably when he said, ”They’ll feel the wrath of spinach in my muscles.” He even looked like Popeye in certain scenes, complete with Popeye’s incredible forearms and more. Naturally, fans did enjoy watching The Notorious One becoming Popeye.

However, there is simply no doubt that no one could truly replace the magic that Robin Williams brought to Popeye in the original 1980 film, which remains a classic for anyone who loved the actor or the character.

Road House signals a promising start for McGregor’s acting career, but that does not mean he will be a one-hit wonder. McGregor continues to hone his skills as an MMA fighter and also maintain his lucrative businesses, so he is almost always busy no matter what. This new stint at Hollywood is a bonus at this point.

Reflecting on his involvement in the film during an interview with Extra TV, McGregor revealed that his role was initially meant to be brief, similar to Post Malone’s cameo. However, as filming progressed, McGregor’s part expanded, with additional scenes being incorporated. We will have to wait and see whether the legendary Irish UFC fighter will somehow to get fight again this year, as it has been almost three years since he last stepped foot inside the Octagon, and that’s a cause for concern for many.
